Struggling for a gift idea? Birthday coming up, and you want to give an unusual present? Here’s our slightly biased, but very to-the-point advice.
Any sort of possession. There is a multitude of reasons for that. Besides the fact that satisfaction/excitement from acquiring a possession dissipates rather quickly (science says so!), here’s another reason by no other than Sheldon Cooper. Upon receiving a laptop as a present he exclaimed: “Oh, great! You have taken away from me weeks of agonizing thought, tedious research, sleepless nights filled with indecision.” Let them get their own toys!
Traditional shopping gift cards – just don’t…
Give gifts of experiences. These will surely be loved, and the memories created will last a lifetime. Try sites such as cloud9living.com for gifts (via gift cards) that will take their receivers in the sky, under water, and everywhere in between.
Give a gift of learning. Be it learning how to cook, paint or dance – they will love the thought. By the way, you can find beyond excellent dance lessons at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Bay Harbor Islands (gift certificates available).
Give a gift of charity. Give a gift card that can be redeemed as a donation to any one of the hundreds of available options at TisBest.
Give a gift of fine-art portraiture. Here comes the slightly biased part. We think that a gift of a fine portrait will be appreciated by everyone. It’s true, but no one even prints their photos anymore, let alone commissions a portrait. You just know they will be excited when they see your gift, and you know it will become a cherished object in their home for years to come. There are not too many gifts that can top that!
You can give a gift of a portrait to your parents, your children, your siblings, your spouse. And there are so many beautiful occasions: anniversaries, engagements, weddings, births, graduations, housewarmings…
Meet the artist
Rothschild Portraiture is headed by Alexander Rothschild. He lends his 10 years of experience as a photographer and a portrait artist to creating artwork of the most captivating quality. Student and admirer of classical visual arts, he has just the right touch for infusing his portraits with the aura of the bygone era. As a result, a Rothschild portrait wouldn’t look out of place 100 years ago, and would not look dated to a future generation.
Like the idea? You’ll find a link to our gift certificates in the top menu (tip: you can split your gift certificate with someone else, and go even bigger in size).
Keep in mind that we are in South Florida – if you are some distance away, you might have to gift a air ticket too 🙂
